Now after many years of personal experience with my own health concerns, I am convinced that exercise and proper nutrition do the greatest good and are the most important things we can do to have a healthy lifestyle.
As Jack Lalanne says "Exercise is king, nutrition is queen and together you have a kingdom"
Appropriate diet
Appropriate diet, regular exercise and relaxation gets rid of at least one half of the signs and symptoms of most stress related health problems.
Many people will try to solve their problems with only diet or supplements.
I have even tried this when I was in my twenties. The strict dietary ideology I was following dealt mainly with the prevention and treatment of disease based on diet alone.
I had also falsely believed that if I was a strict vegetarian that I would not get ill. But, this proved very wrong years later. Diet by itself does not take into account the totality of our experience.
If you are not really out of shape, then do some type of aerobic exercise for 20-30 minutes three times a week.
If out of shape, start walking for 5 minutes at least 3 times a week for the first week. Then, the second week walk for 10 minutes 3 times a week. Slowly increase the time you walk as your strength builds up. Over a period of a few weeks, increase you walking time up to 30 - 45 minutes.
When I do this, I do not worry about the "miles" that I walk. As your strength increases you will naturally walk farther. Go by the time you have walked.
This includes sleeping, napping, sitting at the beach etc. without "doing" something else. Watching t.v. is not resting nor is it relaxing. Practice "doing nothing". You cannot "rest on the run".
